This summer, my research student Foong Min Wong and I worked on producing 3d videos of the surfaces we've been making with my software Bertini_real.
We used Blender, particularly its python interface, to produce the movies. Foong Min wrote the majority of the code, which imports data from bertini_real runs, and sets up a lighting scene and camera movement. I tuned it to have a particular lighting setup, and do some additional scaling of the scene.
The result is a playlist of videos on YouTube. So far, we have only 20 videos of the 60 we rendered available to watch. More will come when we have time to upload them.
You need red/cyan glasses to watch these correctly.
Here are links to the individual videos:
- the barth sextic
- nordstand's weird
- tangle cube
- whitney umbrella
Thanks for checking it out!
